I am Vang Van Long, 31 years old, living in Tam Duong town, Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province, #Vietnam. I am writing this letter to present a difficult issue that local farmers in Tam Duong are facing.

Every year, the farmers’ union of Lai Chau province organizes vocational classes, training courses on breeding, cultivation, and repairing machines to be applied in production to improve the quality and value of their products. However, the problem is the output. The market prices for the products are low, but if farmers do not sell, the products will just go to waste. As a result, farmers get a low income.

On behalf of the farmers in our locality, I would like to propose some solutions:

  • Find a market of consumers for the products. Companies and businesses need to buy products to make the farmers feel secure with their production.
  • It is necessary to have pilot models in planting new varieties that are of high quality, of good price, and suitable with local soil.

  • It is necessary to have strict sanctions against those who produce and trade low-quality products of unknown origins or undisclosed production process (variety of seeds, pesticides or fertilizers used, etc.).

I really hope that Minister will design and implement a policy and solution to help farmers get rich in their homeland.
