The National Confederation of Peasant Organizations (Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka – PAKISAMA), an AFA member organization in the Philippines, successfully conducted a UNITY CONGRESS last July 1-2, 2006 at SEAMEO-INNOTECH, Diliman, Quezon City. The Unity Congress was officiated by the Solidarity Committee headed by Fr. Noel Vasquez, S.J. The Solidarity Committee was tasked by the Regional Trial Court to convene and facilitate the PAKISAMA Unity Congress following the Constitutional Framework of PAKISAMA.

A new set of National Council (NC) and the National Executive Committee (NexCom) was also elected. They will serve in office for two (2) years till the next Congress in August 2008. However, for the National President and National Vice President posts, there will be term sharing as there was a two-way tie for both posts.

Elected as National Chairperson is Renato Penas. To serve as National President till August 2007 is Mr. Ireneo Cerilla. The NC and Nexcom decided also that as a transition and while in the process of reviewing staffing requirements, the National President will function as the National Coordinator; maintain its national office at Rm. 202 Partnership Center, 59 C.
