YANGON, MYANMAR – Why are the youth becoming less and less interested in agriculture? The future of sustainable agriculture is in the hands of the younger generation, but how can we draw their attention and interest to engage in the development of modern agriculture practice in Myanmar? These are two of the topics discussed during the two-day Youth Forum conducted by the Agriculture and Farmers Federation of Myanmar (AFFM) on 7-8 September 2019 in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon, Myanmar.

A total of 140 youth leaders (87 male and 53 female) from Sagaing Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Kachin State, Kayin State, Chin State, Shan State and Rakhine State participated in the two-day forum.

The forum was also attended by development partner organizations such as ILO, Need Myanmar, Myandhrra, and CTUM affiliated sectors BWFM, IWFM, FWFM.

During the forum, the participants, lead by the AFFM youth committe, discussed various issues related to youth in agriculture.

AFFM is a member of the Asian Farmers’ Association in Myanmar.
