In celebration of AFA day, members and partners participating in AFA’s Consultation-Workshop and 3rd AFA General Assembly last February 28 – March 3, 2008 in Sangnok Resort, Cheonan, South Korea, visited 2 farmer communities.

The first was a flower farm by a KAFF member. The farmer grows carnation and tulip inside greenhouses. The participants saw the strong structure of the greenhouses which can withstand the heavy snow and keep out the cold during winter. Thus, the farmer can grow flowers even during the harshly cold weather.

The second was the Dodram pig cooperative, which produces high quality pork. The participants listened to a presentation and visited the plant and the slaughter house. They saw the advanced technology, standards, and management of the pig cooperative. Using an advanced system the farmers were able to penetrate the market of pork and earn good income for themselves.
