The Steering Committee of the Southeast Asia sub region plus china of the Medium Term Collaboration Program with Farmers Organizations in Asia and the Pacific Region (MTCP) met last Nov 28 , 2010 in Bangkok, Thailand, to monitor progress of implementation in 2010 and get lessons learned, make a draft plan and budget for 2011 and clarify roles and functions of the implementing agencies, regional coordinator, and Chairperson.

The MTCP is a three year program, funded by IFAD and managed by the FAO-RAP. It aims to strengthen networks of farmers’ organizations at country , sub regional and regional levels, as well as their involvement in governmental policy processes at all levels, and in IFAD country programs as well. It is implemented in 10 pilot countries in 2 sub regions : India, Nepal and Sri Lanka for South Asia; Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar/Burma, and China for Southeast Asia plus China.

The steering committee at the sub region and regional levels include one representative duly selected in each covered country, and one representative each from three regional /international farmers’ groups : AFA, La Via Campesina and IFAP.
