Berlin, Germany – AFA Secretary General Ma. Estrella “Esther” Penunia joined as a panelist during the kick-off of the three-day Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) held on 19 January 2023 in Berlin, Germany.
The GFFA is the world’s leading international conference on key issues relating to the future of the agri-food sector. The political highlight is the Agriculture Ministers’ Conference where the Agri Ministers discuss the topic and adopt a final communique that will then be fed into international discussions on agricultural policy.
The GFFA 2023 held 20 panels with 100 speakers and was attended by around 2000 international guests. The highlight of the GFFA was the 15th Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference which was attended by 64 Agriculture Ministers who adopted a final communique.
The panelists of the kick-off event discussed their perspectives on the GFFA’s overall theme/topic: “Food Systems Transformation: A Worldwide Response to Multiple Crisis”. The panelists were Michael Fakhri, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food; Jason Clay, Senior Vice President Markets, World Wildlife Fund US; Josefan Sacko, Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment of the African Union; and Ms. Penunia. The panel was moderated by Monica Jones, international TV, and conference moderator.
