AFA coordinator for Sustainable Agriculture Agenda, Irish Baguilat, participated in the two-day multistakeholder consultation and planning workshop on Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Agriculture and Forestry Towards Food Security and Sustainable Livelihoods in the ASEAN Region organized by the ASEAN Secretariat Food and Forestry Division, ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) – Thailand, and the Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme Asia. The workshop was held on 25-26 May 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The workshop put together an implementation roadmap for the mainstreaming of biodiversity in agriculture and forestry through agrobiodiversity conservation and sustainable management of non-timber forest products and wild foods.
During the workshop, Ms. Baguilat shared the contributions of farmers and fishers in transforming current food systems and AFA’s initiatives, particularly on the promotion of indigenous or neglected and underutilized species and associated knowledge and practices for food security, nutrition, and climate change adaption.
