Focal persons from the ASEAN Sectoral Working Group on Agricultural Cooperative (ASGWAC), ASEAN Secretariat, CSOs, agri-agencies and private sector participated in the Second Regional Workshop on Developing the Action Plan of the ASEAN Roadmap for Agricultural Cooperatives was at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta, Indonesia on 25 September 2019.
The participants deliberated on the action plan that was drafted during the first regional roadmap workshop held in Bangkok, Thailand in February 2019. They reaffirmed the recommended actions and sub-activities, identified the lead country and possible partners as well as the timeline in conducting the necessary actions.
This roadmap workshop is expected to strengthen cooperation among regional stakeholders to operationalize Action Plan and Priorities of ASEAN Roadmap 2019-2025.
Asia Pacific Farmers’ Program Coordinator Lany Rebagay and AFA Cooperative Development Manager Jojo Ebron attended the workshop.
This activity was organised by the ASEAN Foundation, in coordination with the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN Centre for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives (ACEDAC) Secretariat, and with support from the AFOSP-MTCP2 Programme.
About AFOSP-MTCP2
AFOSP-MTCP2 is a capacity building program funded by the European Union (EU) with co-financing from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The program is being implemented in seven ASEAN countries through the consortium Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) and La Via Campesina (LVC). AFOSP-MTCP2 supports the strengthening of national farmers’ organizations (FOs) and their national platform towards improving their institutional capacity to deliver economic services to their members as well as to effectively engage them in policy processes. At the ASEAN level, the consortium AFA – LVC works in partnership with the ASEAN Foundation in expanding the spaces for the engagement of FOs in ASEAN processes.
