First Sri Lanka Young Farmers Camp and Agrilympics (YFCA)
5-6 July 2025
SANASA Campus, Kegalle, Sri Lanka

The First Sri Lanka Young Farmers Camp and Agrilympics (YFCA) brought together 120 young farmers, students, and agri-entrepreneurs from across Sri Lanka for a dynamic two-day program filled with learning, teamwork, and cultural exchange. Held on 5–6 July 2025 at SANASA Campus, Kegalle, the event created a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, and youth empowerment in agriculture.

The program blended practical skills with friendly competition, featuring expert speeches, interactive panel discussions, leadership training, cultural performances, pitching sessions, and the much-anticipated agrilympics, fun, agricultural-themed games designed to build teamwork while showcasing practical farming skills.

Prominent agricultural experts and industry leaders delivered insightful presentations on modern farming techniques, sustainable practices, and agri-entrepreneurship. A highlight was the interactive panel discussion addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by young farmers today.

Participants also had the chance to learn hands-on agroforestry skills, adding practical field experience to their knowledge toolkit. Evenings came alive with the Solidarity Night, where participants enjoyed singing performances and celebrated Sri Lanka’s diverse culture, strengthening friendships and networks beyond the sessions. The pitching session provided an exciting opportunity for participants to present innovative agricultural ideas and business proposals to a panel of judges, encouraging entrepreneurship and creative problem-solving.

The event was organized by SANASA International, the national implementing agency of APFP-FO4A in Sri Lanka.

The Young Farmers Camp and Agrilympics (YFCA) aims to empower rural youth by showcasing that farming can be innovative, fun, and a viable livelihood, while promoting leadership, cooperation, and sustainability through interactive competitions, skills workshops, and knowledge sharing activities.

The YFCA is made possible through the support of the APFP-FO4A program, co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and implemented by the consortium Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) and La Via Campesina (LVC). Click here to now more about YFCA
