Farmer-leaders representing farmers’ organizations from Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, Cambodia and Philippines arrive in Quezon City, Philippines yesterday for the “Orientation and Leadership Development for New AFA Execom Members” and 22nd Execom meeting of the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA).
Ms. Sudaporn Sittisathapornkul of SorKorPor, accompanied by Mr. Weraphan Promontere, were the firs to arrive at around 3:00 PM. She will be joining the other Execom members during the orientation and leadership development session today as newly-elected Chairperson of AFA. She will also preside over the Execom meeting of AFA for the first time on May 27.
On May 28, the AFA Execom will be joined by local farmers’ groups for a rice forum and press conference in the morning, and the ASEAN IUC conference in the afternoon.
