The Agribusiness Support Fund (ASF), in partnership with the FPCCI Central Standing Committee on Agriculture, organized the “Seminar on National Consultation on Climate Action and Family Farming in Pakistan” on 12 September 2025 at FPCCI Capital Office, Islamabad, Pakistan.
The seminar, conducted with support from the APFP-FO4A program, was attended by stakeholders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Central Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC), Environmental Protection Agency Gilgit-Baltistan, Regional Farmers Organizations (RFOs), Pakistan Farmers Network (Pak-FN), GIZ, IFAD, Hashoo Foundation, NCCB Pakistan, The Asia Foundation, and other development partners actively participated.
During the seminar, speakers and climate change specialists highlighted the urgency of building resilient food systems and advancing inclusive climate-smart agriculture. Notably, representatives from RFOs and Pak-FN presented their action plans, setting the stage for collective action.
All participants endorsed a joint agreement and action agenda around the following five points:
- Strengthen Food System Resilience – Developing community-based food baskets to ensure access to nutritious food during floods and shocks.
- Promote Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) – Scaling up watershed management, soil conservation, and tree plantation in mountain areas.
- Enhance Financial Protection – Advocating crop insurance schemes and credit relief tailored for smallholders.
- Inclusive Engagement of Women & Youth – Ensuring 40% participation of women and youth in resilience programs and FO governance.
- Preparedness & Early Relief Mechanisms – Establishing farmer preparedness strategies and rapid response teams for climate disasters.
This joint commitment reflects a shared resolve to strengthen climate resilience, food security, and inclusive growth for family farmers in Pakistan.
