Islamabad, Pakistan — A new chapter in Pakistan’s agricultural movement has begun with the official launch of the Pakistan Farmers Network (Pak-FN), established on September 11, 2025 under the APFP-FO4A Program by the Agribusiness Support Fund (ASF).
Pak-FN is set to become the apex national platform for smallholder and family farmers, strengthening their collective voice in policy-making, advancing climate resilience, and promoting sustainable, climate-smart agriculture across the country.
The network’s first leadership was elected through consensus among farmer leaders representing district, regional, and provincial farmer organizations formed under the APFP-FO4A program:
- Mr. Altaf Hussain (Regional Farmers Organization – Malakand) – President
- Mr. Ejaz Ali (Regional Farmers Organization – Baltistan) – General Secretary
- Raja Yasir Ali (Potohar Grapes Organization) – Finance Secretary
The launch event gathered a wide range of stakeholders, including farmer organizations, government representatives, development partners, and civil society, all united in their commitment to building a more inclusive and resilient agricultural future for Pakistan.
ASF extended its gratitude to all partners and especially the farmer leaders from Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and other regions whose dedication made this milestone possible.
The APFP-FO4A program is implemented by the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) and La Via Campesina (LVC), with funding support from the European Union (EU) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The program aims to strengthen the capacities of farmers’ organizations to provide economic services, advocate for enabling policies, and promote sustainable livelihoods for small-scale family farmers across Asia.
