Agusan del Sur, Philippines — Two agricultural cooperatives in Region 13 reached a new milestone in digital transformation with the installation of Point-of-Sale (POS) and lending software systems from 8–10 December 2024. The San Isidro Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SAIFMULCO) and Maragusan Banana-based Cooperative (MARBCC)—both members of the Federation of Agrarian Reform Communities Cooperative (FEDARCCO), are now equipped with modern tools to enhance efficiency and transparency in their operations. FEDARCCO is a member of the Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA), an AFA member in the Philippines.

Following the installation, cooperative staff underwent comprehensive hands-on training to familiarize themselves with the new systems. These technologies are expected to streamline processes such as sales tracking, bookkeeping, accounting, and financial reporting—reducing manual work and saving valuable time, particularly for women who often shoulder these responsibilities.

This initiative forms part of the project “Empowering Women and Youth in Cooperatives,” implemented by the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) with GIZ as the lead implementer. The project is supported by the European Union through the Mindanao Peace and Development Programme (MinPAD RISE).
