Alvin’s Dream
The Hope of the Dumagat-Remontados

As the VOICE-funded Being and Becoming Indigenous (BBI) project comes to an end, let us watch this documentary on Alvin, a Dumagat Remontado youth leader and other young people in their community as they bring relief goods to people in the areas most affected by typhoons that hit the Philippines in 2020. In this film, the group shows us around their community while sharing about the importance of establishing a youth network/organization, the importance of keeping their indigenous culture alive, their dreams and aspirations for themselves and for their community, and the lessons they learned from joining the various activities organized through the project.

The Dumagat Remontados are one of the several indigenous groups thriving on the ridges of the Sierra Madre mountains. The concentration of their population is mostly found in Tanay, Rizal province and General Nakar, Quezon province, Philippines.
