The Non-Chemical Vegetables Plantation Group, a SorKorPor member in Srakaew province, eastern Thailand recently opened with a formal ceremony. The group has 100 farmers from 4 districts, each district having 25 farmers.

The group plants Thai herbs like Hwan-nam, Ro-tin or Hung-hli, Borapet, Ton-Hnon-tay-yark, Sa-dau, Ta-kri-hom, Tobacco leaf, etc. without the use of chemical insecticides.

The vegetables produced are packed in plastic bags designed with the logo, slogan, and name of the producer.

They have 5 mobile kiosks that sell their products in hospital, school and in the public areas of district.

The project is being supported by the CEO-Governor of Srakaew province. The Public Health Office at the provincial and district levels guarantees that the product is organically grown, and helps the group to look for markets. The Provincial Agriculture Promotion Office gives technical support and some kind of agricultural instrument in the beginning.

The group is also campaigning among other farmers to plant non-chemical vegetables in their areas.

This project is a part of the expansion of Thailand to be a “world kitchen”.
