I am Pham Van Thuong, born in 1990 into a farming family in Huong Son commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province, Vietnam.
I am standing on the family farm as I write this letter. One month ago, the land was covered by the color of lily in a high-tech greenhouse. I apply indoor growing technology in producing flowers for export.
Every year, on the Tet holiday, the family’s flower garden was crowded with guests to visit and trade. But this year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, business has been slow. Many flowers reaching harvest time were not sold. In that situation, I applied flower preservation and care techniques and planned to cultivate seedlings from unsold flower trees to reduce the loss.
I want to send a message: we, rural youths, should maximize our creativity in overcoming tough situations in the most difficult times. This way, we can contribute to the development of our own hometown and our country.
I hope that the Government will have specific support policies for farmers, and support young farmers to start up, especially in the context of natural disasters and epidemics. This can help them to prosper in their hometown.
