The Vietnam Farmers Union hosted an AFA event entitled “Seminar Workshop on Organizational Management: Developing AFA Leaders’ Capacities to Manage AFA Operations†last November 10-14, 2006 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
VNFU First Vice-Chairperson Mr. Le Hoang Minh welcomed all 33 (23 male, 10 female) participants from 6 AFA member organizations from 6 Asian countries to the event.
The seminar-workshop aimed to (1) increase the knowledge of AFA ExeCom members on program and project management, finance management, human resource development and administrative development so that they can better manage their own organizations and AFA; (2) develop AFA’s operations manual in preparation for the eventual autonomy of secretariat operations of AFA; and, (3) conduct an evaluation of AFA on its preparedness and capacity for eventual autonomy of secretariat operations.
The resource persons included: Ms. Esther Penunia – overview of organizational management, HRD management, office management; Ms. Lany Rebagay – planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation; and, Ms. Marlene Ramirez – sustainability and resource development.
The event also included a field visit to the farmers union in Quang Ninh province and a meeting of the AFA Executive Committee in Ha Long City.
