C. Relevance of this GA :
- With the anticipated approval of the new 10-year Strategic Plan, it sets the direction and the speed for its implementation by setting a three-year thrust.
- This year is the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) as well as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. While the IYRP has been significantly celebrated, with several global and regional gatherings already conducted and global and regional pastoralists declarations already given in global spaces, the celebration of the IYWF is still significantly invisible in the spaces AFA engages with. Our discussions in AFA come a day earlier compared to the dovetailed event “Regional Women Farmers’ Gathering “. AFA can reference its statement/declaration, bringing it to the next event and gathering support for its implementation.
