Workshop Sessions

March 10-11 were devoted to the workshop itself.

For Session 1: ASEAN Regional Integration in Agriculture, AsiaDHRRA Program Officer Lany Rebagay gave a presentation entitled “ASEAN Regional Integration in Agriculture”. Focus on the Global South Program Coordinator Ms. Jenina Joy Chavez (Joy) gave a presentation entitled “Regional Integration in Agriculture: Experiences from the EU, Mercosur and ALBA”.

For Session 2: The Template of ASEAN Bilateral FTAs, Mr. Begin Pakpahan from the Institute of Global Justice gave a presentation entitled “The Template of ASEAN FTAs”. His colleague Mr Donny Tamtama presented Japan’s Strategy in Agriculture Sector.

For Session 3: Orientation on the Bio-Fuel Industry and Its Implications to Agriculture in ASEAN countries, Dr. Martin Djamin, Expert staff for Alternative and Renewable Energy from the State Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, gave a presentation entitled “Biofuel Industry and Its implications to Agriculture”. Ms. Farah Sofa of WALHI/Friends of the Earth Indonesia gave a presentation entitled “CSO Critique of the Biofuel Industry “.

For Session 4: Developing AFA’s Advocacy Plan on ASEAN-related Concerns, AFA Secretary General Esther Penunia presented AFA’s previous advocacy plans.

Lany, Esther, and AsiaDHRRA Secretary General Marlene Ramirez facilitated the 4 workshop sessions, guiding the participants through the open fora, reflection sessions, and plenary reporting sessions.
