The New Agriterra Liaison Officer to the Philippines, Michiel Burgondien, carried out an orientation-mission to the Philippines last April 23 – May 8, 2007. The mission was facilitated by AFA Sec Gen Esther Penunia and Technical Assistant Jun Virola.
The mission visited five existing partners (PMBA, NATCCO, LAKAMBINI, WOPD, and PASAKA) and three potential new partners. A courtesy visit to the Agricultural Office of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Manila was also held. Meetings took place with Board members, members and staff of all organizations. This included also three field visits to observe the state of project implementation (by WOPD, PASAKA, and NATCCO).
By being the host, AFA was able to help its member PAKISAMA in being introduced to the new Agriterra Officer. It also helped bring together other Agriterra partners in the Philippines through a farewell dinner for its Liaison Officer. AFA hopes that further dialogues and cooperation between related groups (PAKISAMA, LAKAMBINI and PMBA) will ensue as an indirect result of this visit.
