In a forum-dialogue on the rice crisis, Asian farmers called on their governments to help make Asian countries self-sufficient in rice, support sustainable, organic farming, and involve small farmers in discussions and decision-making processes with regards to the rice industry. This call was made in the context of continuing food price increase, especially rice, in Asia and the world, which has not really benefited small farmers, but have also affected them negatively.

The “Forum – Dialogue on the Rice Crisis in Asia: Farmers’ Situation and Responses” was held yesterday, May 28, at the Conspiracy Garden Cafe in Quezon City, Philippines. It was attended by farmer-leaders from national farmer organizations belonging to the Asian FArmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA).
