I am Swapna Rani from Bogra, Bangladesh. I am a housewife and a youth farmer. I am a child of a farming family and am married to a farmer.
Women have an immense role in the present society. In many agricultural countries, women are involved both in household chores and agricultural work. When I first got involved in agricultural work, both my family and society suppressed me. But I overcame these obstacles and became involved in agricultural work through my own efforts.
At first, I faced various obstacles in crop production. I was disappointed that I could not achieve my desired success. Later on, upon the advice of the agriculture officer of our Upazila, we started producing crops again. This time, I achieved not only my desired success but also a financial success.
My family and husband encouraged me to push through, but there are still many families where women are deprived of their rights. If women are given their fair share, then our agriculture sector will develop. This will eliminate the inequality between men and women, which will lead to the economic development of our agriculture sector.
Everyone must be given equal rights and dignity. Laws need to be enacted to engage women farmers in public and private sectors for the advancement of women in agriculture. If this law is implemented everywhere, then the participation and dignity of women in the agricultural economy and our country will increase.
