A Multisectoral Rice Summit

The summit will analyze the extent of the current rice shortage in the Philippines from the perspective of groups and sectors who are hardest hit by the crisis – farmers, workers, urban poor and women.

A critical analysis of the country’s policies on food, agriculture, trade and foreign borrowings relation to the recurring rice crisis will be presented. Policy reforms, especially in the areas of production, global trade, and local marketing and distribution of rice, as well as concrete actions to assert the people’s right to food will be formulated.
