On October 28, the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) held the soft launch of Project BRIDGE at the Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City, Philippines, together with a forum on strengthening coordination and partnerships for agricultural cooperatives in the Philippines.

Led by AFA, in partnership with AgriCOOPh Federation, Pakisama (Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka), and participating agricultural cooperatives, Project BRIDGE aims to:

  • Strengthen agri-coops as platforms for market access
  • Connect small-scale farmers to institutional markets, especially public food procurement programs
  • Advance agroecological and regenerative agriculture

The session also built on the recommendations from KITE 2.0 in Cebu, where stakeholders identified the need for a multi-stakeholder working group. Cooperatives, farmers’ organizations, government agencies, and development partners came together to identify shared priorities and explore joint action, resource mobilization, knowledge sharing, and policy engagement.

Project BRIDGE is supported by The Rockefeller Foundation.
