Across Asia, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, pastoralists, and smallholder family farmers are restoring degraded ecosystems through community-led governance, traditional ecological knowledge, sustainable pastoralisms, agroecology, participatory mapping, and locally adapted restoration practices.
This side event brings together community organizations, civi society actors, pastoralists and farmer representatives, researchers, and development partners from across ASia to exchange practical experiences and lessons from community-led ecosystem restoration initiatives, and toe promote recognition of community leadership, land rights, and traditional knowledge within restoration frameworks and UNCCD processes.
