Phnom Penh, April 8– In a two-day strategic planning workshop April 7-8, 2006, AFA agreed on its strategic directions for 2006 to 2010, identified key performance indicators and milestones, and developed strategies for their implementation.
AFA’s strategic objectives in the next 5 years are as follows: 1) to be a key player: gain recognition from and influence national, inter governmental regional/international bodies; 2) to build strong, capable, credible, far-reaching national farmers’ organizations; 3) to strengthen AFA’s organizational systems and structures; and, 4) to provide programs and services for members in the areas of alternative trade, agrarian reform and issue advocacy.
Workshop facilitator Corazon Juliano-Soliman, a well-known civil society leader in the Philippines and former DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) Secretary, led AFA members through a participative and interactive process of strategic planning.
