Phnom Penh, April 8– In a two-day strategic planning workshop April 7-8, 2006, AFA agreed on its strategic directions for 2006 to 2010, identified key performance indicators and milestones, and developed strategies for their implementation.

Phnom Penh, April 11 – AFA members passed two declarations on WTO and the ASEAN Charter during a forum on “Asian Farmers’ Perspectives in Engaging Inter-Governmental Bodies” held at Juliana Hotel, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, last April 11.
We, leaders and members belonging to the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA), gathered here at Phnom Penh, Cambodia for a “Forum on WTO and ASEAN: Asian Farmers’ Perspectives in Engaging Intergovernmental Bodies”, this 11th of April 2006, on the occasion of AFA’s Strategic Planning and Second General Assembly , declare the following:
Zekoku Ainoukai, a farmer organization in Japan devoted to organic farming and an AFA member, started this year’s preparation course for future farmers last April 8. The course is for Japanese citizens who are interested in farming, most of whom are from the city and are still working in companies.
Mr. Long Dimanche, Secretary of Farmer Nature Net (FNN), a farmer-organization in Cambodia practicing sustainable agriculture and an AFA member, will present AFA’s alternative marketing experiences in a regional conference in Bali, Indonesia on May 9-12, 2006.
