Across Asia and the Pacific, a new generation of young farmers is stepping forward—finding their voice, building their skills, and shaping the future of agriculture.

Through the APFP-FO4A program, farmers’ organizations have invested in youth empowerment through leadership development, enterprise support, digital literacy, advocacy, and innovation. Young people are no longer just participants—they are decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.

The APFP-FO4A program has reached 6,629 young people among its 53,737 direct farmer beneficiaries, supporting their engagement in agroecology, agribusiness, leadership, and policy advocacy. Youth committees, platforms, and forums established across 13 countries continue to strengthen young farmers’ voices and influence.

Through knowledge exchanges, mentorship, hands-on training, and learning visits, these young farmers are building a future where agriculture remains vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive.

The future of farming is young—and it is already unfolding.

The Asia-Pacific Farmers’ Program (APFP) – Farmers’ Organizations for Asia (FO4A) was implemented by the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) and La Via Campesina (LVC), with funding from the European Union (EU) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The program aimed to strengthen the capacities of farmers’ organizations to provide economic services, advocate for enabling policies, and promote sustainable livelihoods for small-scale family farmers across Asia.
