Across Asia, smallholder family farmers are on the frontlines of climate change. Droughts, floods, and unpredictable weather patterns continue to threaten their livelihoods and food security, yet they remain at the heart of feeding their families, communities, and nations.

Through the APFP-FO4A program, farmers are embracing agroecology and climate-resilient agriculture to build sustainable food systems that work in harmony with nature.

Across the region, farmers are shifting away from input-intensive farming and adopting practices that restore ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and strengthen their resilience to climate change. From producing organic fertilizers and regenerative farming techniques to conserving marine ecosystems and promoting sustainable value chains, communities are creating solutions rooted in local knowledge and collective action.

Every seed planted, every ecosystem restored, and every farmer and fisher empowered contributes to a more sustainable future.

The Asia-Pacific Farmers’ Program (APFP) – Farmers’ Organizations for Asia (FO4A) was implemented by the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) and La Via Campesina (LVC), with funding from the European Union (EU) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The program aimed to strengthen the capacities of farmers’ organizations to provide economic services, advocate for enabling policies, and promote sustainable livelihoods for small-scale family farmers across Asia.
